Halloween Workshop by Urban Gypsy!
Urban Gypsy is Houston's premiere improvisational tribal style dance troupe. They just returned from teaching and performing at Ahlan Wa Sahlan, the largest belly dance festival in the world in Cairo, Egypt! They were the first improvisational tribal style group ever to be invited to participate in such a prestigious event!
Troupe Director Sahira (pictured facing forward) and Assistant Director Zymirrah (pictured sideways) want to help raise the dancing spirits of New Orleans and have graciously agreed to teach a workshop here in New Orleans on Halloween Weekend (Oct. 28th)! Space is limited so sign up today!

Improvisational Tribal Style Basics, Formations, and Fun! |

Description: This class will explain and demonstrate basic movements of improvisational tribal style dance and will quickly progress into formations, signals, and leadership changes. Perfect for any level of dancer, from newbie to experienced! Come and join the fun!

Description: Urban Gypsy will be bringing
some of their fabulous merchandise and this will be your chance to see it, feel it, love it and buy it! Sahira's DVD Arabian Spices will be available for purchase as well. Several coffee houses/restaurants are within easy walking distance.

Description: Add a little Southern spice to your repertoire with some slow and fast moves and cues from Sahira & Zymirrah. Is everything really bigger in Texas? Why is one move called the “pornstar”? Come to the workshop and find out!

Description: Sahira shows you how to use funky pops, locks & intense isolations to create a modern urban flair in your dance! Usable on the stage or in your favorite club.

Hotel Information
There are no hotels within walking distance of the studio. Therefore I have reserved a block of hotel rooms at a La Quinta within walking distance of the French Quarter so that it will be easy to party and then walk (or stagger) home. A taxi can take you to and from the studio easily (see transportation).

This block of rooms will be held only until September 27th, 2006. After that, the group rate will not be available and space is not guaranteed. To make the reservation, call (504) 598-9977 and tell them you are with the Urban Gypsy group. Valet parking is the only parking available and it is $22 per night. However, you can go in and out as much as you like.
Transportation
You don't really need a car in New Orleans. Most of the fun stuff, besides the workshop, is going to be in the French Quarter and parking is difficult to say the least. So the best option would be to take a shuttle to the hotel and then a taxi to the workshop and back. There is street parking available at the workshop studio, though, if you prefer to rent a car.
